Skiing Colorado

Everyone loves a few days of Colorado sunshine and fresh powder on the slopes! Jared and I just got back today from a nice week long vacation - and it was wonderful! However, I have to admit that on our first day of skiing (which all these pictures are from), we didn't have the sunshine. The actual temperature was -7. Add in the windchill and flurries and that was us! We braved (at times...) the arctic temps and had a blast - from open to close! Jared had his Colorado ski debut at Copper Mountain, a new run for me as well, and it was beautiful. Both of us love skiing, and since we had some pretty awesome friends with us it was even more fun! I can confidently say that having my best friend in another state stinks... so we really treasured out time together! Especially in the lodge when we were thawing. :) We are all already planning next years adventure! Good luck figuring out who's who in the pictures... a testament to how insanely cold it was!
Hint: my husband is the one with NOTHING covering his chin..... he'd cover it now, now that it's all windburned and flaky... :(

I was only slightly bummed that it wasn't a sunny day - I was really hoping for some "Colorado blue sky" pictures of the mountains from the top of the hills and lifts; but the frosty trees were so pretty as well. All the depth and grandeur was still there...you really couldn't complain!

We will definitely be going on anothe ski trip. I love not only the feeling of zipping down the slopes, but the "post-skiier" exhaustion... pretty awesome as well! Sitting in the lodge with a warm drink or two and letting your body start to ache - it's a great feeling of accomplishment. I caught Jared on camera in the lodge at the end of the day. Not sure if he would agree with the above statement. ;) I have to admit, that after day 1 (which was New Years Eve) we all crashed from that post-skiier exhaustion. As in, we went to bed by 10pm, incapable of staying up to bring in 2011. But hey, day 2 was still ahead!

The rest of our vacation and return trip back was just as much fun! My best friend, Toni, and I had some very lazy mornings and afternoons post-skiing, with sleeping in, coffee, and our favorite pastime together. Jared and I also got to see my grandparents and aunt for a delicious dinner at our favorite Chinese restaraunt in Denver. Seaweed soup, scallion cakes, ginger duck, slow steamed veggies, chilean sea bass... all favorites!

We had a great finish to 2010, and a FABULOUS way to bring in 2011! Hope you did as well... Happy New Year!!!!
