Stillwater called our name. It was super busy, but somehow the quaintness of the town came alive with all that bustle. The antique stores, bookshops, arts & crafts, and hole in the wall ice cream shops were teeming with people. Including us. I loved it.
Obviously I didn't catch the memo to tone it down a notch... |
After we exhausted ourselves with plastic trinkets, old books, chess sets and fudge, we walked the lift bridge and (what's left) of the river bank. For any of you that have been to Stillwater, with all the flooding, not much is left by the river. It's quite weird, actually. There's supposed to be a river walk down there! As well as space for normal, and even decently large boats to pass under without having to raise the bridge.
So on the mildly wet grass we decided to picnic. These guys are one in a million. We literally spent the rest of the day sitting on thick blankets, eating ultra picnicky food, enjoying the sun, conversations, and each other's company.
Words don't even express how thankful Jared and I are for genuine friends. The kind that every. single. time. you leave, you feel full. Full of encouragement, joy, peace, and love. Knowing that they got your back! In prayers, life situations, times of excitement, and times of hurt. These guys cover it all with us. I love where coversations lead - the deep ones and the random ones. There's not many people I could handle just sitting on a blanket with for a few hours.... but these hours were awesome. :) We love you Kait and Mike!!
Jared and I are also remembering to praise the Lord when He provides moments of relaxation like this one. In all honesty, life has taken a tornado of a turn for us... we are so busy and have so much on our plates right now that moment's like this, let alone together, are fewer and farther between. So we thank the Lord for the timeouts, however big or small, of rest. He knows just when we need them.
Hope you had a wonderful, long weekend! Stay tuned... more to come SOON!
Love this you guys! Stillwater is so fun and beautiful! Looks like you had a blast. :)
